The management of sludge produced during wastewater treatment is a crucial aspect for any industrial or municipal plant. Sludge, resulting from physical-chemical or biological processes, incurs high disposal costs and requires effective treatment to reduce its volume, increase its dry matter content and facilitate its transport and management. For this reason, Uberplants Italia offers a comprehensive range of solutions for sludge filtration and dewatering, tailored to the type of wastewater, flow rate and the client’s specific objectives.

Among the available technologies, filter presses are one of the most widely used and established solutions. They produce sludge with a high dry matter content thanks to a system of plates and filter cloths that retain the solids and release the liquid (filtrate) under pressure. They are ideal for wastewater with a high concentration of suspended solids and for batch processes.
Belt dewatering systems, on the other hand, are suitable for continuous treatment and offer the advantage of high efficiency with low energy consumption. The sludge is compressed between two moving filter belts, which progressively reduce its moisture content.

Another effective technology is the decanter centrifuge, which uses centrifugal force to separate solids from liquids. This system is compact, can be automated, and is suitable for high flow rates or sludge of biological origin. The choice between horizontal or vertical centrifuges depends on the type of sludge and the plant layout.
For low-volume applications or where space is limited, Uberplants also offers filter bag systems or screw press stations, which are simple and reliable, and particularly suitable for industrial settings where sludge production is sporadic rather than continuous.
