Water softening is an essential treatment for the protection of industrial, domestic and healthcare facilities. This process involves the removal of calcium and magnesium salts – the main causes of water hardness – through ion exchange using strong cation exchange resins. Uberplants Italia’s water softening systems are designed to ensure high performance and low consumption of regenerant (salt), featuring automatic timed or volumetric regeneration systems, and single-bed or multi-bed solutions, depending on the flow rate.

In addition to resin-based systems, alternative technologies such as nanofiltration can also be offered; this is particularly suitable in situations where, in addition to hardness, other contaminants such as sulphates, nitrates, organic matter and certain metals need to be removed. Nanofiltration, in particular, produces water with superior chemical properties and a significant reduction in dissolved solids, making it suitable even for sensitive production processes. Both solutions can be integrated into more complex systems, such as pre-treatment stages for reverse osmosis or steam systems.
