The Electro-Deionisation (EDI) systems offered by Uberplants Italia represent the most technologically advanced solution for the continuous production of ultrapure water, without the use of regenerative chemicals. EDI technology combines the action of ion-exchange resins and direct electric fields to remove residual dissolved salts, ions and impurities from water that has previously been treated by reverse osmosis.
Unlike traditional mixed-bed systems, EDI does not require chemical regeneration using acids or bases, thereby completely eliminating the need to handle and dispose of aggressive chemicals. This ensures greater operational safety, lower operating costs and a significantly reduced environmental impact. The process is continuous, fully automated and ensures consistent permeate quality over time, with the conductivity of the treated water being less than 0.2 µS/cm.
These systems are ideal for applications requiring ultrapure water, such as the electronics, pharmaceutical and food industries, and in power generation plants for supplying high-pressure boilers. EDI is typically installed downstream of double-pass reverse osmosis systems, and thanks to its inherent efficiency, it enables high levels of purity to be achieved without any interruptions to service.
Uberplants Italia supplies fully automated, turnkey EDI plants, with modules that can be easily integrated into existing systems or supplied in skid-mounted or containerised configurations, for quick and compact installations. All systems are custom-designed using carefully selected materials and high-quality components to ensure reliability, a long service life and low maintenance costs.
Thanks to the use of EDI, it is possible to produce water of the highest quality in a sustainable, reliable and safe manner, whilst keeping administrative requirements to a minimum and optimising consumption. Uberplants Italia supports the customer at every stage: from the preliminary study through to commissioning and after-sales support.
