PALLADIUM PLATING PROCESS

The electrochemical palladium plating process, like gold plating, is a process in which an object is coated with a thin layer of metallic palladium by applying a potential difference.

The palladium that is deposited on the object is present in the solution called electroplating bath and is deposited in the form of a metal alloy on the surface of the object.

As with gold plating, the surface where the palladium alloy will be deposited must be cleaned using a surface preparation process.

Even in the case of electrochemical palladium plating, the process serves to give the object both aesthetic/decorative characteristics but also functional properties such as resistance to corrosion and wear.

Palladium plating is used in decorative applications for its hypoallergenic properties, which differentiate it from nickel.
