GOLD PLATING PROCESS

The electrochemical gilding process is a method whereby, through the application of a potential difference, an object is coated with a thin layer of metallic gold.
The gold deposited onto the object is present in the solution known as the electroplating bath and is deposited in the form of a metallic alloy onto the object’s surface.
However, before the gold alloy is deposited, the substrate must be prepared through a specific chemical and electrochemical cleaning process.
Electrochemical gold plating serves not only to give the object aesthetic qualities but also functional properties such as resistance to corrosion and wear.
